Simon & Katie: 2000 Trees Festival Wedding
There are some jobs that are a little bit more special than others, and getting to photograph Simon and Katie at 2000 Trees Festival 2026 was very much one of them.
I've been part of the Trees world for like 18 years with Camp Reuben, and it's genuinely my favourite place on earth. It's where so many of my favourite memories are, so the idea of combining that with weddings has been a dream for a while. Turns out, it's every bit as good as I'd hoped.
I wasn't able to photograph Simon and Katie's full wedding, but I was absolutely over the moon to be there for their couple portraits, group photos and the general wedding vibes. Getting to take my camera around a place I know and love so much, and photograph people celebrating their wedding there, was a pretty special feeling.
Trees people are my people…
One of the best things about 2000 Trees is the people. You get a particular sort of energy there: everyone's up for a good time, people look out for each other, and there's a shared love of music that makes the whole place feel like a little world of its own. I’ve long joked with James (one of the organisers) that I’m not even there for the music… but its true.
This year when I shot for Simon and Katie, there were six couples on site who I've been lucky enough to photograph on their wedding days, which made the whole thing feel even more lovely. Seeing familiar faces, catching up with people and being surrounded by so much good energy made an already magical place even better.
It's also exactly why festival weddings appeal to me so much. Your wedding doesn't have to look like everyone else's, and if your idea of a brilliant time involves live music, your favourite people and a festival field rather than a traditional venue, I am absolutely here for it.
Simon and Katie, thank you so much for having me. And a big thank you to Ilona for taking these photos of me doing my thing, too.
Festival weddings, come at me!
I've spent years photographing weddings and years being part of the 2000 Trees community, but getting to bring those two parts of my life together feels genuinely special. I love the people, the atmosphere and the fact that festival weddings come with their own built-in personality. There's no need to manufacture a vibe when you're already surrounded by people having a bloody good time.
So if you're planning a festival wedding, whether that's at 2000 Trees or somewhere else entirely, I would absolutely love to hear about it. Apparently, all those years at Trees and Camp Reuben have been excellent preparation for this particular job. Who knew?
